"When we hear soulful music, we feel an inner thrill in our entire existence - a river is flowing through us, a river of consciousness."
You are warmly invited to an evening concert featuring the works of composer and spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy, performed by over eight different vocal and musical ensembles.
During his lifetime Sri Chinmoy composed thousands of lyrical songs both in English as well as his native tongue, Bengali. Sri Chinmoy believed that music is a universal language through which the hearts of the performers and the audience can blend together. Of music, Sri Chinmoy has said:
"In the spiritual world, next to meditation is music, the breath of music."
Music helps the spiritual seeker to go deep within to get the utmost satisfaction from life, from truth, from reality."
From the pure sounds of Bengali and English plainchant, to dynamic musical arrangements, the evening will offer a diverse selection of music and mantra, inundating listeners with a heightened sense of inner tranquility and well being.
The evening presents a special opportunity for the audience to directly participate in the practice of mantra as a form of meditation.
Music and Mantra is an incredible chance to experience music not only as a source of enjoyment, but also as a vehicle to a higher consciousness. On Sunday, March 14th, we warmly invite you to experience the hauntingly beautiful and dynamically uplifting melodies of Sri Chinmoy.
Music and Mantra is part of the Festival of Meditation and Spirituality taking place in New York City in the month of March, sponsored by the Sri Chinmoy Centre.
